Looking for a Seawind Share? Here's the story of our Seawind 1000XL Stray Cat'A Smart Seawind share gives us hassle free boating.'
One of Stray Cat's owners Peter Rich had a tough gig sailing her on her maiden voyage from the Sydney harbour to Pittwater with SmartBoating owner David Biddle. They had a perfect day with blue skies and a 15 knot South Westerly wind following them on the port quarter. Stray Cat handled beautifully in the ocean swell and made 8.5 knots under sail. It was the perfect way for Peter to get to know his new boat before his Seawind share officially launched.
But let's wind the clock back a few months. You may remember us telling you about our trip to the Seawind Catamaran factory to see Stray Cat in production. Seawind catamarans are built in Woolongong with owner Richard Ward at the helm. Richard is famous in boating circles all over the world for his meticulous attention to design and detail - the Seawind Catamaran story is one of Australian success! Once the Seawind team were happy with her Stray Cat was gently craned into the water on a less than perfect day!
The Seawind 1000XL is a step up from it's hugely successful predecessor the Seawind 1000. The extra long transom makes the ride smoother and the forward opening windows, self-tacking headsail and single line reefing all improve comfort on board. And so back to that fabulous sail up from Sydney Harbour... Peter and David spent a couple of hours going over the boat with the Seawind staff before they set out from Birkenhead point.
It was a gorgeous September day on Sydney Harbour - the water literally sparkled in the Spring sunshine. David and Peter took the chance to sit back and take in the 360° panoramic views from Stray Cat's cockpit. Of course one of advantages of a Seawind share as opposed to charter is that you are not restricted by charter limits. If you want to sail to Sydney Harbour, Port Stevens or even Lord Howe - you can!
We love this photo of Sydney Harbour Bridge framed by the Stray Cat's Bimini. The upstairs space on the Seawinds is simply magical. Richard Ward's view is that if you have to go downstairs on a boat to shelter from the weather - you might as well be at home. He's designed the upstairs space to allow as many people as possible to enjoy fabulous views and the great Australian climate.
Once Stray Cat was safely in her new home at Bayview Marina, David and his team set to work kitting her out for our new Seawind Share owners. This work is done before the owner training sessions can start. David makes sure all the extras you need to make your boat comfortable are ready for you the very first time you step aboard. There's more than you might think to get ready... ...here's just a few of the items David adds
SmartBoating also takes care of paperwork like insurance and registration with NSW maritime. Before your boat share time starts we give you a familiarisation session to make sure you are totally happy with everything... ... and then she's all yours to sail off into the sunset. And of course if there are any issues or you need any help... we're always here to lend a hand. Our new Seawind share owners certainly seemed very happy with Stray Cat at the launch party!
You could own a Seawind 1000XL or 1160 for less than you think. Give us a call on 02 9997 5344 and we'll tell you more. |
