Lagoon is the world’s number one catamaran manufacturer. Formed in 1984, Lagoon’s unique expertise in innovative catamaran design has become legendary.

These fabulous boats are designed by world-renowned naval architects Marc Van Peteghem and Lauriot Prevost (VPLP) and of course loved by their passionate owners . . .

Smart Boating are delighted to announce the continued expansion of their syndicate boat fleet with a brand new Lagoon 42 to be based in TWO magnificent locations.

This comprehensively optioned model will be the display boat for Sydney Boat Show, after which it will be available for your use!

The Best of BOTH Worlds

Sail in 2 Magnificent Locations

During years 1, 3 and 5* of the 5 year term, our brand new Lagoon 42 will be based at 2 of the most desired sailing destinations you could wish for. For 7 months of the year from October to April she’ll be based at our new base at Clontarf Marina, Middle Harbour.

Fully refurbished in 2017, Sydney’s newest and most prestigious marina is located at Sandy Bay on the north eastern shore of Middle Harbour, and on the ocean side of Spit Bridge.

Explore the best views of Sydney from the water, entertain friends or perhaps soak up the atmosphere of the iconic events that the Harbour is famous for – The Sydney to Hobart Race start, New Years Eve fireworks and the Australia Day celebrations to name just a few.

Head North for Winter Sun

Experience the Whitsundays

In years 1, 3 and 5* after Easter your Lagoon 42 will seamlessly move to the excellent marina facilities at Hamilton Island which lies at the heart of this stunning sailing paradise. Simply fly direct to the island and within minutes you can be on board your own familiar catamaran, which will cleaned, fuelled, ready to board and sail away.

Whether you’ve come to sail, dive, participate in Hamilton Island Race Week or simply relax once your holiday in this spectacular cruising ground comes to an end, simply pack up and head home – no fuss, no hassle, no cleaning, no nothing! Smart Boating takes care of it all.

And of course when Sydney starts warming up from October, your Lagoon 42 returns to Clontarf for the summer season. Now that is SMART BOATING!

For those looking to gain offshore experience there may also be the option to be on board for the delivery trip.

*In years 2 and 4 the boat will remain in Sydney all year. Bookings for Whitsunday’s use are via preference ballot. Please enquire for full details.

Lagoon 42 - Fast Sailing

Enjoy the journey

The Lagoon 42 offers easy, comfortable yet speedy sailing with that extra capacity and those additional features we have come to expect from the global leaders in Catamaran manufacture.

This boat is comprehensively equipped inside and out.

She is the perfect live aboard model for families and sharers offering four cabins each with their own ensuite bathroom. And even when you are sailing short handed the self-tacking headsail ensures easy handling.

Combine this with a hassle free, walk-on/walk-off professional management service and enjoy sailing as it should be.

Easy sailing

The Lagoon 42 is built with weight saving in mind. The hull, deck and bulkheads are infusion moulded. With less buoyancy required forward, the bows are finer improving the wave piercing power.

The raised steering station gives you a panoramic view, yet you’re well protected. And with all controls within easy reach…  this is an easy catamaran to sail.

A more balanced rig reduces pitching; a shorter boom makes the mainsail easier to control; a large forward triangle gives more choice of foresails – (a self tacking headsail is standard with options for larger downwind cruising sails); and a relatively narrower and higher square topped mainsail enhances performance.

By applying their racing experience and locating the mast further aft, VPLP have set new standards on a cruising catamaran.

Easy living

The saloon blends with the cockpit when the door and sliding saloon window are open – but you can close them anytime.  As with all Lagoon’s, there’s heaps of space for relaxing and entertaining.

The vertical windows optimise space and light yet maximise protection from the sun. Interior woodwork is Apli – a beautiful lightweight composite material.

The aft cabins boast island double beds and benefit from a bathroom with separate shower. Forward cabins have side access beds and an ensuite combined head and shower.

A U-shaped galley affords extensive storage space and wide work surfaces and is oriented towards the external cockpit making entertaining a breeze.
