Hanse Yachts - Why Quality is Worth Waiting ForWondering why you need to wait at least 6 months for your Hanse yacht to arrive in Sydney? Here's the story of meticulous attention to detail giving you outstanding quality. Let's Talk about Laminating.
The first stage of building your yacht is to laminate the hull and deck in forms (moulds). To laminate well demands skill and experience. Hanse use chemical engineers to do all their laminating - not unskilled staff. These skilled workers take time to make sure every Hanse hull is perfect.
Blending different materials together is always a challenge. For example bonding the chain plate to the hull is not straightforward. Hanse have done extensive research with the Fraunhofer-Institute into the properties of GRP (fibreglass) and metal. They are confident they can properly blend metal and fibreglass together. And you can be confident that your Hanse yacht will be strong in unforgiving seas. Yachts Built by Sailors for Sailors
Many yacht owners want a fast boat which is also comfortable. Hanse achieve this by starting in the right place... ... the hull and rig design. Top racing yacht designers Judel/Vrolijk Co, (famous for America's Cup winner 'Alinghi') are responsible for the fantastic performance rig and hull of Hanse yachts And only when Hanse are 100% happy with the hull do they allow the interior designers to start work. The interior is designed to fit the hull not the other way round. So Hanses are built by sailors for sailors. And because they are so beautifully balanced they are easy to sail well. You can sail fast even if you're only just getting to grips with the details of sailing! Hanse Care About What You Can't See
There's lots about your yacht you can't easily see. For example tanks, pipes, wires and fittings are hidden behind bulkheads and in bilges. How do you know these items are well installed? Hanse pride themselves on state of the art construction and quality materials. Then once items like the engine are installed by Hanse's skilled team, their work is checked and verified by the supplier to ensure it is of the highest standards. And if you take the time to look under the bilges and in the engine room you'll see tidy, quality work for yourself. This kind of quality control takes time. Attention to detail with the rudder
Here's an example of how Hanse take time with every component. The rudder on your Hanse yacht is made from weight saving aluminium alloys. The inner rudder is constructed by a process of drilling and glue. This takes more time and effort than welding - but it's worth it - welding would weaken the aluminium. Hanse pivot the hubs with self-aligning bearings, which ensure that the rudder is always in the correct position. They use a safe, sophisticated rod steering system (rather than cables). When you sail a Hanse yacht you'll love the feel this gives you at the helm. You'll also love the security of knowing how safe and strong your steering system is. Here's some video footage from Team Windcraft which shows you more detail about the manufacture of Hanse yachtsHanse Yachts have Stunning Interiors
Like the exteriors, Hanse sailboat interiors are absolutely stunning. The interior designers produce the trademark Hanse clean, contemporary lines and pay close attention to every detail. David Biddle and his team are very experienced in choosing from Hanse's wide range of available finishes. You can be sure your yacht's interior will look gorgeous for the life of your boat share and so attract the best possible re-sale price. Hanse Yachts Are Thoroughly Tested Before They Leave the Factory
Hanse place great emphasis on the accuracy check at the final inspection before they hand over your yacht. The final checks are done in the sea (not a water tank) - since the sea is where your yacht needs to perform and this is the gold standard test. During the sea trials Hanse check the water tightness of all the outlets and valves and the engine performance. This final inspection is done not by Hanse, but by an independent outside company who are professionals in putting yachts to the acid test. This testing takes 48 hours. Then finally your Hanse yacht is loaded onto a freight ship for her journey to Sydney. Commissioning Your Yacht
