Smart Boat Share Owners Rally on Pittwater

The annual Pittwater Hanse Rally is a great way for our boat share owners to have a go at yacht racing...

... and make some new friends along the way.

The day involves a race up Pittwater, lunch in a sheltered bay, a race back then dinner and drinks in the evening.

Although it's a race...the emphasis is on fun...

...around half of the fifty skippers in 2011 had little or no experience of racing.

SmartBoating yacht share owner Tim Van Brugge took his family out on their Hanse 430 Y-Knot.

It was Tim's first race on Pittwater on the Hanse and afterwards he said he couldn't believe he hadn't done it sooner.

The whole family really enjoyed racing in a casual relaxed way.

Tim was very impressed to see so many boats out on the water and to appreciate first-hand the strong following of the Hanse brand.

Pete Wolsey and John Faulds had a great day out on their Hanse 375 Bliss.

The Hanse 375 is a great sailors boat and she handled the 20 knot winds beautifully.

Pete's wife Sandra was really pleased to win the lucky door prize at the evening dinner.

And Smart charter yacht owners Megan and Adrian Barnes had great success on Liquid Leisure coming first in the 32 foot division.
